Dewi Roberts

Dewi Roberts is a Senior Researcher at the University of Liverpool. He is currently Project Manager of the ‘Year 3 Skills Assessment Materials (SAMs) Project for DCELLS (Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills), the Welsh Assembly Government. This project started in January 2010 and runs until December 2012.

His previous project manager roles for CRIPSAT include the Year 5 Optional Skills Assessment Materials (tranche 1 published by DCELLS in 2009 and tranche 2 to be published in the autumn 2010), Key Stage 2 Optional Assessment Materials for Science (published by DELLS in 2006), the KS2 Optional Science tests for Wales (2006) and the KS2 Science tests for Wales 2003-2005.

He was a member of the CRIPSAT team that developed the bilingual Scientific Enquiry Materials (published by CRIPSAT in 2007), the 2001 KS1-3 Optional Assessment Materials for Wales and the KS2 Science tests for England and Wales from 1995-1998.

Dewi’s previous posts include senior lecturer in primary science and education (Initial Teacher Training) at Liverpool Hope University College; school inspection work for agencies contracted to Estyn; an advisory-teacher role for Clwyd LEA and primary school headships.

In 2004 he was invited to give a series of lectures on primary science developments in England and Wales at Capital Normal University, Beijing and has also written primary science materials through the medium of Welsh for the BBC.
