Development of Optional Assessment materials for the Developing Thinking curriculum area.
A revised school curriculum will be implemented for Wales in September 2008. Innovations will include an increased emphasis on the development of learners’ skills in Developing Thinking, Developing Communication and Developing Number. To support learning and teaching against the revised curriculum, The Welsh Assembly Government, through its Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) has commissioned a range of optional skills assessment materials (OSAMs) to support its radical curriculum reforms. CRIPSAT was awarded the contract to explore, pilot and develop materials to support teachers’ classroom implementation and assessment of Developing Thinking. The shift in pedagogy made explicit through these materials is associated with significant gains in learners’ achievement. This project runs between January 2007 and December 2009.
