Test Development Process

The development process adopted by CRIPSAT involves the participation of Local Education authority personnel and teachers who contribute either as individuals or as part of groups. These personnel are involved in different ways:

helping the research team identify how the programmes of study might be operationalised and how assessment in this area might best reflect and even promote good practice.

Small scale trialling of fairly raw items with small groups or whole classes of children.

Marking children's responses to trial material.

Contributing data derived from children's classroom and laboratory investigations.


Task Development Process

The approach to task development will include a review of existing optional science assessment materials. New items will be developed and trialled in collaboration with teachers who are used to working with children whose overall science achievement tends to be around level 1 or 2.
