CRIPSAT

The Centre for Research in Primary Science and Technology was inaugurated at the University of Liverpool in 1986 with support from the Gatsby Charitable Trust. All activity is externally funded and ranges from the relatively small-scale – perhaps with one local authority or similar sponsor – through to national and international projects. Most work takes the form of design-based research in the areas of curriculum development, assessment, professional development of teachers and evaluation. While we have project experience across the entire age span from nursery to tertiary education, we claim a particular expertise and focus on the 3-14 age range. Similarly, while we have a particular focus on science education, CRIPSAT staff have an interest and expertise across the curriculum with strong links to thinking skills and ICT, and in particular, formative assessment.
